The AFFIRM-1 research study is testing a possible new medicine for social anxiety.
Social Anxiety Disorder can cause intense fear, nervousness, and avoidance of social interactions, making daily life challenging. While current treatment options exist, there is a need for fast-acting, on-demand relief to help individuals navigate stressful social situations more effectively.
This study is enrolling adults aged 18 to 65 who are experiencing symptoms of social anxiety. Participants will receive study-related care at no cost, and health insurance is not required.
By joining this study, participants have the opportunity to contribute to advancing research on new treatment options while helping researchers better understand how to manage acute social anxiety symptoms.
Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) can make everyday situations—like meeting new people, speaking in public, or even casual conversations—overwhelming and distressing. Many people with SAD experience intense fear, physical symptoms like a racing heart or nausea, and a strong urge to avoid social situations altogether.
While treatments are available, they may not work for everyone, and many options require consistent daily use. This study is evaluating an investigational medication designed for acute, as-needed relief, providing a potential new way to manage social anxiety in the moment when it matters most.
By participating in this research, you can help advance the understanding of new treatment options that may offer more flexibility and control for people with social anxiety.
